Shen's Books Submissions Guidelines

Shen's Books is dedicated to producing children's literature that emphasizes cultural diversity and tolerance, with a focus on introducing children to the cultures of Asia. 


Manuscript Submissions

Due to the large number of submissions we have received that have not been reviewed yet, we are suspending our acceptance of new submissions. After November 1, 2012, until further notice, all unsolicited manuscript submissions will be returned to sender without review.


Illustration Submissions

We keep illustration submissions of interest on file indefinitely. Should we have a project that fits your illustration style, we will contact you. Art samples that do not fit our needs will be returned only if a SASE is included with adequate return postage.

When submitting artwork, please follow these guidelines:

  • Mail color copies, tear sheets, and/or other illustration samples to the address below. We do not accept electronic samples on CD or by e-mail. DO NOT send original artwork.
  • If you have a web site with additional samples of your work, please include your web address.
  • Include your contact information. Keep in mind that we keep your work indefinitely, so please use a phone number or e-mail address that you plan to have for a long time.
  • If you would like a confirmation of receipt, please include a self-addressed, stamped postcard.

If we have a project that fits your style, we will contact you. Questions regarding the status of a submission should be submitted here or e-mailed. Please do not call.
